Emotion Press was established in the year 2011 by Folarin Olaniyi, a Theatre Artiste and Writer, after he discovered that fewer young Nigerian writers were getting published every year, mainly caused by the market’s insatiable thirst for the old wine.
Ever since the existence of the publishing house, it has published Lucius Ndimele, Adebayo Sakiru, Emma Odiai, Oluwafemi Oloidi, Ufuoma Bakporhe, Femi Ogundairo, Ikechukwu Patsy, Tunde Adeyemi, Solomon Iguanre, Stephen Ikebude and Doris Malgwi.
We are excited to let you know that most of the writers are under thirty five, one of them, Ufuoma Bakporhe, will be celebrating her 19th birthday with the unveiling of her second full length novel. Ufuoma has been interviewed in the Nigerian media and continues to be celebrated for her first attempt, Lettars From Imbecile, which she wrote before she clocked her 18th year.
At Emotion Press we take it as a form of responsibility to not only refine the creative works that comes to our desk, but also ensure that our author’s storytelling perspective and understanding of the book business becomes deeper.
The year 2014, we dabbled into full scale television production. Booktv Africa, is an initiative founded to make the book look hip and cool to our teeming youths, who most interestingly are always stuck to their television sets and the internet. By the second week in December 2015, just a week to Christmas, we will launch Africa’s number literary television channel online. You can always follow our progress on this project on the online TV website – www.booktvafrica.com
